It's important to get your eyes checked regularly so that you can catch vision problems quickly. If you have recently found that you are in need of corrective lenses, you can choose to wear glasses, or lenses, or both. No matter which you choose, one thing you will need to know is how to take care of them. Here are some of the things about caring for glasses and contacts that you will want to know about:

Caring for your glasses

Protecting your glasses – You want to make sure that you do all you can to protect your glasses from breaking and being scratched. The first thing you want to do is make sure you have a hard case for them. Make sure that you keep your glasses properly stored in this hard case any time you aren't wearing them. You want to avoid wearing your glasses in conditions that put them at risk of damage. For example, if there is a bad windstorm outside that's blowing around a lot of dirt, then it's best for you to take off your glasses while you are directly in the wind. If you don't, your glasses can get scratched from the sand blowing around in the air.

Cleaning your glasses - You should also be sure you only use an approved cloth to clean the lenses of your glasses, such as the one given to you with your glasses when you purchased them. You do not want to use your T-shirt, as it can leave little scratches in your lenses that will not go away.

Caring for your contact lenses

Protecting your contacts – Just as you don't want to wear your glasses in bad conditions, you don't want to wear your contacts in bad conditions. If you get something on your contacts, no matter how small, not only can it cause damage to the lenses, but it can also cause you to have a scratched cornea--which can be very bad. You want to make sure you always put your contacts right back into their case (with enough solution to fully cover them) when you aren't wearing them.

Cleaning your contacts – Always make sure you wash your hands well before you touch your contacts. Clean them each time you take them out of your eyes and again before you put them back in your eyes. This will help you keep them bacteria free and also prevent the possibility of small debris accidentally damaging them.

If you are looking to get your eyes checked or already know that you need a pair of glasses or contacts, contact your local optometrist for further advice and assistance.

About Me
contacts that don't need removed at night

I have worn contact lenses for the last twenty years and never had any problems with them. I had heard about contact lenses that could be worn for a week straight without having to remove them to sleep. This is something that really interested me because there are mornings that I just don't have the time to mess around cleaning and putting in new lenses. I liked the thought of being able to watch TV in bed without having my glasses pressing on the sides of my head. I created this blog to provide other contact lens wearers with the information that I used to decide whether or not to try these new lenses.
